Business Intelligence Companies & Consultants in Skokie, IL

Dunn Solutions is an information technology consultancy based in Skokie, Illinois, and is now part of Kaar Technologies. Founded in 1988, it has worked for more than three decades with organizations that want to make better use of their data, applications and digital channels. For buyers comparing business intelligence providers in the northern Chicago suburbs, it is a long-standing local option. Its work covers analytics, software development and staff training.

Business intelligence and analytics focus

Business intelligence has long been one of the firm's main areas of work. Directory listings describe it as a consultancy specializing in three kinds of solutions: business intelligence, transactional and knowledge-based. Its BI work aims to meet both a client's current reporting needs and its longer-term plans, while getting more value from the software and hardware the client already owns. That approach suits companies that want to build on their existing systems rather than replace them.

Services offered

Beyond reporting and analytics, Dunn Solutions works across a wide range of technology projects. Its published areas of work include:

• Business intelligence and analytics consulting
• Business applications and custom application development
• Strategic planning for technology initiatives
• Digital commerce and e-commerce solutions
• Business transformation consulting
• Portals and content-managed websites
• Web design
• Client education and training

How they work with clients

The firm presents itself as a full-service IT consultancy that brings strategy, design and technical skills together on each engagement. Training is a regular part of its work: it helps client staff learn to use and maintain the systems delivered to them.

This matters for analytics projects, where results depend on how widely people across the organization use the reports and dashboards. More recently, the company has described itself as a digital commerce and business transformation consultancy that aims to help clients move faster.

It also appears as a vendor in the SAPinsider community, which suggests that work with organizations running SAP is part of its business.

Background and ownership

The business started as Dunn Solutions Group, and William Dunn served as its president. Cranes Software later acquired the company to expand its analytics capabilities in the United States. It now operates under Kaar Technologies, which gives this Skokie consultancy the backing of a much larger global technology services group. Its office remains on Touhy Avenue in Skokie.

Buyers looking for a business intelligence partner may find several things useful here. The firm has long experience with BI and analytics, and it can also handle application development, commerce and staff training under one contract. Its local office makes in-person work easy for organizations in the Chicago area. Prospective clients should ask the company directly about its current technology partners and the industries it focuses on.
